Presenting his material on both Acoustic Guitar and Piano, Renny Field first arrived on the Australian music scene with the release of his debut album “Make Believe” in December 2003 and has since racked up hundreds of live shows, including supports for Diesel, The Whitlams, Tegan & Sara, Mark Seymour, Lior, Sarah Blasko, Hawksley Workman, Serena Ryder, and Old Man River. He has toured extensively throughout Australia and abroad, continuing to build a successful career as an independent singer-songwriter.
Songwriting remains an unlikely pursuit for Renny, and his progression since that first album seems somewhat improbable for a person who graduated from University with a Commerce Degree in 2000, having more or less neglected his music after a frustrating 6 years playing the Clarinet through high school. A handful of small covers gigs in the UK in 2002 were hardly a reason to suspect the significant career change he would undertake when returning to Australia.
Festival highlights include the Cockatoo Island festival 2005, Peats Ridge Festival 2004-8, and a trip to the 2004 Mid-west Music Summit in Indianapolis, USA. Renny has also traveled to Fiji to appear on the Channel 10 reality TV show “The Resort”, and played shows at world-renowned venues abroad including London’s 100 Club and CBGB’s in New York. In 2008, he performed a month-long residency in Thailand before heading to Europe for a 2-month tour that saw him perform some 30 shows in 7 different countries, as well as a stop in Tokyo on his way back to Australia.
Renny’s currently completing his third studio album, due for release in 2009. After that he is planning to tour in Europe.
“With a voice like Chris Martin of Coldplay, incorporating Jeff Buckley and Elton John’s piano tinklings, Renny Field is destined to make a splash.”
